Did you hear about Elton John's idiotic assertion that the people that voted Jennifer Hudson off American Idol were racist? And that it's always the black people who were consistently being voted off or in the bottom three? What a moron. Let me just say to Mrs. John and those that don't seem to get it: Pssst...let's get this straight. First, Jennifer was the FIRST black person voted off from the final 12 (the final 12 being where US VOTERS were allowed to have a say in who stayed and who went.) I'd also like to further state that FIVE people were voted off before Jennifer, and they were all white (well...one was Hawaiian, but still....) so shove your racist claim right up your famous tushy. And yes, she had a pretty good singing voice, but she was arrogant as hell, and that came through so loud and so clear and was so very irritating. And the over-acting during every performance? A riot. She has some growing to do, a few lessons to learn, but Ms. Hudson will be just fine.
And Mrs. Elton John needs to consider the option of actually WATCHING more than just the episode in which he's featured before making blanket accusations about the rest of the show. Dork.
That outta the way, I am just SO very pleased that Miss Hudson is off the show. And I am so VERY tired of hearing all the media reports of what a sad, tragic thing it is that she was voted off. Perhaps if she'd shown an ounce of honest humility, she wouldn't have been.
And can we just talk for a moment about the retardation that is having the ousted contestant sing as the show ends? The HELL?? Dude. If we'd wanted to hear them sing again, we would NOT HAVE VOTED THEM OFF! How 'bout having the person who received the MOST votes sing? Idiots.

So George and I went to a party Saturday night and had a terrific time. Heidi always throws great parties, and is a terrific host. Especially when she broke out the 100 proof German Schnapps and convinced a good portion of the attendees to do shots with her. She then proceeded to put a Diana Ross CD on, turn it up, and sang along (while dancing) to 'I Will Survive' as a Special Performance to those seated in front of her. It was awesome. I wish I had a tenth of her energy and half her self-confidence. She's amazing and so much fun.
One of the other treats of the night was with a coworker and her husband. And just to be clear, I asked her if she minded my posting this and she was fine with it. ...though, to be honest, she WAS rather lit, so she may decide to hate me soon, but it was funny as hell, so.....
We were off to the side of the action, smoking cigarettes and chatting near the wheel-barrow full of ice and beer. She was in a very happy mood and was explaining to me her idea of what a 'true' artist is: someone who imitates life is the TRUE artist, she was saying. Her husband then interjected with a question:
Herhubby: "Okay...Elvis..." *He then holds out each hand, indicating that there is a choice to be made. Moves left hand up and down and says "Artist?" then moves right hand up and down and says "Or Imitator of Life?"
Her: "Hmm. That's a good question." She thinks for a moment, and then begins swaying her hips back and forth, while looking at her hips, then at us, then at her hips. She says "Well...he DID do that...that...."
Gracie: "Swivel Hips!"
Her: "Yes! Swivel Hips!"
Herhubby: "That is true. He did bring the Swivel Hips into..."
I must stop here and let you know that what he was GOING to say was "...into the mainstream." His wife had another train of thought, though, and said, without missing a beat:
Her: "...Ohio. Yep." she says with an exaggerated head nod that only comes naturally to those plied with alcohol.
Aaaand of course THAT is when I spit my drink all over myself because I could NOT contain my laughter. It was so perfect, and she was so serious, and juuuuust tipsy enough that it was just one of those perfect moments.
Thankfully, she's laid-back enough to laugh at herself and recognize when something is truly funny.
Great party, Heidi! Thank ya lady!
