Things here have been a little crazy, for a change. Here's just a quick update of what has been going on:
The Hank Rocks Benefit was a huge success. We raised well over $13,000 and donations are still coming in! Hank had a great time, and we were all overwhelmed at the amazing turnout.
Last Monday, Hank started the "interim maintenance" phase of his treatment. He's been very crabby and having major headaches, mostly at night. Most of the medication is through the IV, and of of them will be increased each time until he can't tolerate it anymore. Should prove to be a rough 8 weeks, but we're already over a week into it. He's such a tough kid... an inspiration to many.
Monday night, Hank and I went to the Islanders (hockey) game on tickets that were donated to the hospital. Long story short, Hank was asked to ride on the Zamboni. He backed out at the last minute, but the staff was determined to do something for him, so they asked if he would be more comfortable riding after the game, when no one was watching. We stayed after the game, and he got to walk on the ice, sit on the team benches, help empty the water bottle, and finally ride the Zamboni. It was an amazing experience for him. I uploaded pictures to my Wal-Mart site and you can view them at:

Thank you so much for your email. I'm going to do my best to address all of your topics, so bear with me!
First, donations can be made in several ways. You can send the checks directly to the center (donation forms can be printed from http://www.winthrop.org/departments/specialtycenters/cancer-center-for-kids/). If you prefer, checks can be sent to me. I am at the center pretty much every week. The checks can be payable directly to the center, or to me (I have been writing bulk donation checks every week!). I really appreciate the support... it helps them help the children!
As for Christmas, the few things he asked specifically for have already been purchased (except for tickets to the Hannah Montana concert.... sold out, and selling for almost $1000 each!). He is very into remote control vehicles, or pretty much anything with wheels. He loves sports. He's on craft/coloring overload since we've been doing so much of it. There really isn't anything that would be off limits. Thanks so much for thinking of him!
Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.... the support has just been so overwhelming, and helps get us through the rough nights (of which there are many!).
Take care, and Happy Holidays!
Love,
Debra
